| Obverse description | Left-facing bust of Vercingétorix rendered in a stylized Gallic artistic idiom, with elaborately rendered curly hair filling the upper field in a manner evocative of ancient Celtic coinage. The effigy is executed in high relief with a boldly modeled facial profile. The legend VERCINGETORIX curves along the lower periphery of the flan in incuse or relief Latin lettering. The overall treatment deliberately echoes the style of authentic Arverni coinage of the 1st century BC. The irregular flan contour further reinforces the antiquarian aesthetic of the piece. |
