Obverse description The gilt obverse features a sunburst in the upper field with multiple aircraft and paratroopers in relief, flanked on each side by two enamelled flags (British and Canadian). Below, a group of Allied soldiers advancing in relief fills the lower field. The peripheral legend names the five Normandy landing beaches, interrupted at top centre by a small enamelled French tricolour flag.
