The Route de la Liberté commemorates the Allied victory and liberation of France, Belgium and Luxembourg during the Second World War. It is marked by a series of milestones along the road network between Sainte-Mère-Église (milestone 0) and Utah Beach (milestone 00), in Normandy, and Bastogne, in the Belgian province of Luxembourg, marking the route taken by the 3rd U.S. Army (Wikipedia).
