Obverse description Bare head of Louis XVI facing right in high relief, with hair tied in a queue with ribbon. The circular legend runs along the periphery, separated from the design by a beaded inner border and an outer reeded rim. A small engraver's mark appears in the lower exergue.

Reverse description The coat of arms of the city of Chartres displayed at center: a shield gules bearing three silver bezants each charged with a Bleso-Chartres medieval denier type, with a chief azure charged with three fleurs-de-lis or. The shield is surmounted by a crown and flanked by a wreath of oak branches with acorns. The circular Latin legend surrounds the entire composition within the reeded rim.
