A circular Russian countermark of 1655, bearing the mounted effigy of Tsar Alexey Mikhailovich, is applied in the lower-left portion of the field, partially obscuring the host coin's design. The peripheral legend reads ROM IMP ARCHI in Latin script, forming part of the original Taler's circumscription. The countermark itself is struck within a beaded circle and shows a rightward-facing equestrian figure, consistent with the standard Moscow Mint puncheon of 1655. |

The circumscribed legend in Latin reads IOHAN GEORG D G DVX SAX IVL CLIV ET MONT, identifying the issuer as Johann Georg, by the Grace of God Duke of Saxony, Jülich, Cleves, and Berg. The portrait is rendered in the detailed German Renaissance style typical of Dresden Mint production. The field shows natural wear and toning consistent with the coin's age and circulation. |
