Obverse description The obverse displays the original reverse design of the underlying Saxon Taler, featuring the crowned and quartered arms of Saxony surmounted by a row of nine helmets with elaborate crests, with the date divided across the field. A circular Russian countermark of 1655, bearing the mounted effigy of Tsar Alexey Mikhailovich, is applied in the lower-left portion of the field, partially obscuring the host coin's design. The peripheral legend reads ROM IMP ARCHI in Latin script, forming part of the original Taler's circumscription. The countermark itself is struck within a beaded circle and shows a rightward-facing equestrian figure, consistent with the standard Moscow Mint puncheon of 1655.
