| Descrizione del dritto | Armored bust of Cosimo II de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany, facing right, wearing a crown and holding a scepter, rendered in high relief in the baroque style of the period. The surrounding legend reads COSMVS II MAG DVX ETR with Roman numeral IIII in the lower right field, and the date 1618 appears in the exergue of the underlying Pisa Thaler. Superimposed upon the obverse field is the Russian countermark of 1655, consisting of a rectangular cartouche bearing the date and the effigy of Tsar Alexey Mikhailovich on horseback, applied by the Imperial Russian Mint to authorize the thaler's circulation as a jefimok rouble. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | Central shield bearing the arms of the city of Pisa — a Maltese cross with a sphere in each quarter — surmounted by a crown, set against a radiating star-burst or cross-pattée background filling the inner field. The surrounding legend, divided by decorative stops, reads MEMOR IN VETUSTA PISA along the upper arc and MAIESTATIS along the lower arc, referencing the ancient majesty of Pisa. The entire design is enclosed within a milled border and an outer beaded rim, characteristic of the Florentine/Tuscan minting tradition of the early seventeenth century. |
