| Opis awersu | The obverse displays the host coin — a 1621 Pfalz Thaler (Dav. 7149) — showing a crowned lion rampant in the central field, with the circular Latin legend EX BOHEMIE FRIDERICI D G around the periphery within a beaded border. Two Russian countermarks applied in 1655 are prominently struck over the host design: a rectangular cartouche bearing the Cyrillic date (1655) and a small oval cartouche depicting a mounted horseman (the 'yezdets') bearing a spear, both characteristic countermarks of Tsar Alexey Mikhailovich's monetary reform. The countermarks are clearly visible overlapping the crowned lion and the surrounding legend. |
