The surrounding legend reads MONE·ARCHIEPISCOPATVS·MAGDEBVRG in Latin characters. Applied directly onto the host coin's field are two Russian countermarks of 1655 issued under Tsar Alexey Mikhailovich: a rectangular cartouche with the date '1655' and a small oval cartouche depicting a mounted horseman (St. George) with a spear, together constituting the official validation marks that transformed this Western European thaler into a Jefimok Rouble for circulation within Russia. |
