Obverse description Standing allegorical female figure, laureate and draped in classical robes, holding a staff topped with a tower in her right hand and resting her left hand on an oval shield adorned with a floral wreath, set against a mountainous alpine background with broken chains and a scroll in the exergue. The engraver's signature CH. BURGER appears in the lower exergue. The legend CANTON DE NEUCHÂTEL curves around the upper rim.
