Reverse description The reverse bears a fully inscribed field with a multi-line French text legend recounting the events of 1 March 1848, with the prominent date 1848 in large numerals near the top flanked by foliate sprigs, and the date 1910 in large numerals at the base. (Translation: On 1 March 1848, the Revolutionary Column descended from La Chaux-de-Fonds and installed in the Castle of Neuchâtel the provisional government of the republic, which had been formed on the same day in the town hall of La Chaux-de-Fonds. The commemorative monument was inaugurated in 1910.)
