Obverse description Facing bust of Christ Pantokrator within a beaded oval mandorla, shown nimbed and wearing imperial loros garments, raising His right hand in benediction while holding the Gospels in His left. The sacred monogram IC XC appears in the fields to either side of the bust. The scyphate fabric imparts a concave curvature to the design, characteristic of late Byzantine coinage.
