| Beschrijving keerzijde | A hexastyle temple depicted in frontal elevation, its six columns enclosing a cult statue standing within the cella; the temple is set upon a high platform or podium supported by six or seven steps, which itself rests upon the peak of a rocky mountain. Below the mountain, a colonnaded balustrade with gateway structures is rendered in schematic form, likely representing the sacred precinct of the Philippean sanctuary. The entire composition conveys a monumental architectural scene characteristic of the temple-type reverses produced by the civic mint of Pella-Philippeis in Coele-Syria. |
