Reverse description A stylized thunderbolt depicted vertically in the center of the field, flanked on either side by a round shield rendered in relief, the whole composition serving as a civic emblem of Katane. Two pellets appear in the field, consistent with the denomination marks for the hexas. The design is boldly struck despite the small flan, reflecting the confident die-cutting tradition of Sicilian mint workers during the late fifth century BC.
