Aanvullende informatie

Adranon — modern Adrano, on the southwestern slope of Etna — was a city founded by Dionysios I of Syracuse around 400 BC, deliberately positioned to control routes through the interior of Sicily. Its civic coinage is sparse, and the hexas denomination in bronze represents one of the smaller fractional units in the Sicilian weight system, equal to two onkiai. This issue falls within the period of Timoleon's reorganization of Sicilian Greek cities following his campaign against Carthaginian dominance, a moment when many interior Sikel and Greek settlements briefly reasserted municipal identity through coin production.
