| Obverse description | Head of a young deity, most likely the local nymph Segesta or Apollo, facing right in three-quarter profile, rendered in the archaic-transitional style characteristic of western Sicilian coinage. The hair is bound with a tainia or wreath and falls in loose locks behind the ear and along the neck. The facial features are finely modelled with a large almond-shaped eye, strong nose, and slightly parted lips. A partial Greek inscription appears to the right of the bust in the field. |
