| Beschrijving voorzijde | Facing bust of Emperor Constans II, depicted wearing an imperial crown and loros, with a short beard rendered in stylized strokes. The emperor holds a globus cruciger in his right hand, with a small cross-on-steps visible to the left of the figure. The portrait is executed in the flat, hieratic Byzantine manner characteristic of 7th-century coinage. The Latin legend encircles the bust in the field, reading dN CONSTANTINUS PP AV. The flan is irregular and slightly angular, typical of hammered Byzantine silver of this period. |
