Reverse description Eagle with wings closed standing to left upon a serpent or ground line, depicted in profile with careful attention to feather detail. Before the eagle, Nike flies rightward, extending her arms to present a victor's wreath. A rose is visible in the field behind the eagle, serving as a secondary civic emblem. The ethnic ΑΒΥ and the magistrate's name ΗΦΑΙΣΤΟΛΕΩΣ are inscribed in the field, identifying this issue as struck at Abydos under the authority of the eponymous official Hephaistoleos. The reverse composition is characteristic of the civic coinage of Abydos during the late fourth century BC.
