The bridle is rendered with fine detail, including the cheekpiece and muzzle straps, reflecting accomplished die engraving for a denomination of this small module. The Greek letters Α and Λ, abbreviating the ethnic of Larissa, appear in the field flanking the horse's head. The incuse square technique is characteristic of early Thessalian hemiobol coinage of the fifth century BC. |
