Caria in the fifth century BC was a patchwork of semi-autonomous cities and dynasts operating under loose Achaemenid suzerainty, which makes firm attribution of small fractional silver nearly impossible without a secure hoard provenance. Several of these hemiobols circulate through the trade under competing attributions — Mylasa, Keramos, and a handful of unnamed mints have all been proposed at various points, none conclusively.
