The Troad in the fifth century BC was thick with small poleis, many issuing fractional silver for local exchange with no intention of broader circulation. At 0.17 g, this hemiobol would have struggled to survive daily use intact — the attrition rate for coins this small was extreme, and most were lost within a generation of striking. Attribution remains unresolved; SNG Arikantürk 682 places it within the region without committing to a specific city.
