The hair is elaborately rendered with parallel incised striations swept back from the brow, bound by a laurel wreath. Neandria was a small Troad city eventually abandoned in favor of Alexandreia Troas, founded by Antigonus around 310 BC — which explains why coinage from Neandria effectively stops. The city's population was forcibly relocated, ending the mint entirely rather than allowing it to fade through economic decline.
