| Beschrijving keerzijde | A bunch of grapes depicted in high relief, centrally placed within a square incuse punch with dotted border. The grape cluster is rendered with individual round berries arranged in a compact, naturalistic bunch, with a short curved tendril visible above. The incuse square, characteristic of early Greek coinage technique, is defined by a recessed field with a beaded inner frame. The field around the cluster within the incuse is smooth and unlettered. This reverse device of a grape bunch is a well-attested symbol of Methymna on Lesbos, alluding to the island's celebrated viticulture. |
