Beschrijving keerzijde A six-petalled rosette or wheel pattern in high relief, with elongated teardrop-shaped petals radiating symmetrically from a central raised boss, all set within a plain circular border. The design is incuse or slightly raised depending on die state, and is characteristic of the floral reverse types employed on early Aiolic fractional silver coinage of Kyme. The petals are well-defined and evenly spaced, giving the motif a strong geometric regularity.

Aanvullende informatie

Kyme was among the earliest Greek colonies on the Aeolian coast of Asia Minor and one of the first cities in the region to adopt coinage, likely under commercial pressure from neighboring Lydian and Ionian trade networks. The hemiobol denomination — the smallest practical unit of the archaic silver system — was produced in quantities large enough to facilitate everyday market exchange, though surviving examples at this weight are extremely fragile and frequently damaged or poorly preserved.

SNG Copenhagen 34 places this type firmly within the early archaic series, before Kyme's coinage developed the more standardized flans of the fifth century.
