Hemilitron

Alaisa Archonidea — ancient Halesa, on Sicily's northern coast — was founded around 403 BC by the Sikel leader Archonides, one of the few indigenous Sicilian settlements to achieve genuine urban status and mint its own coinage. This hemilitron belongs to the city's most productive bronze series, issued during a period when Halesa navigated carefully between Carthaginian pressure from the west and the ambitions of Syracuse under Agathocles. The CNS 15A / Campana 7 attribution places it within a well-documented but modestly sized group, with surviving specimens concentrated in Sicilian collections.
