Obverse description Facing three-quarter bust of Helios, the solar deity, rendered in fine Italiote style with curling hair adorned by a radiate crown of diverging rays spreading around the head. The youthful, rounded face is depicted with carefully modelled features, gazing slightly to the right. The treatment of the radiating crown and the naturalistic rendering of the hair reflect the skilled die-engraving tradition of Tarentine coinage in the late 4th century BC.
