| Descrizione del dritto | Facing right, the head of the nymph Arethusa is rendered in fine archaic style, her hair bound in a sakkos and adorned with beaded ornaments at the crown. A simple necklace is visible at the truncation of the neck. The portrait is executed with crisp relief typical of Syracusan engraving of the late fifth century BC, with well-defined facial features and a prominent ear visible beneath the hair covering. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | A four-spoked wheel with a raised central hub occupies the entire field, enclosed within a plain circular border. The four Greek letters Σ, Υ, Ρ, and Α are individually placed within each of the four quarters formed by the spokes, reading as an abbreviation of ΣΥΡΑ(κοσίων), denoting the Syracusans. The design is bold and geometric, characteristic of the incuse wheel type used on Syracusan fractional silver coinage of this period. |
