Obverse description Archaic facing head rendered in bold relief, depicted full-face with large, wide-open eyes, a broad flattened nose, and a prominent closed mouth with thick lips characteristic of the Archaic artistic style. The hair is rendered with incised, leaf-like or feathered striations radiating from the crown and falling to either side of the face, framing the visage. The facial features display the stiff frontality and stylized modeling typical of East Greek coinage of the early sixth century BC. The flan is convex and irregularly rounded, with no inscriptions or subsidiary devices in the field.
