Obverse description A tunny fish (Atlantic bluefin tuna) depicted in left profile occupies the central field, rendered in the archaic Greek style with bold, naturalistic detail. Above the main fish body, a tunny head is shown facing right, while below, a tunny tail is oriented to the left, together forming a distinctive stacked tripartite composition emblematic of Kyzikene coinage. The design is executed in low relief on the convex obverse surface, characteristic of the early electrum coinage of Kyzikos.
