Varhran I ruled for just three years before dying of natural causes — conspicuous in a dynasty where violent succession was common. His coinage is scarce relative to longer-reigning Sasanian kings, and the hemidrachm denomination saw limited production under his reign compared to the drachm series. The SNS Schaaf classification reflects work done largely from European cabinet collections, meaning the die-link studies for this type remain incomplete by the standards applied to later Sasanian issues.
