Reverse description A lion advancing to the left in a crouching, lunging posture, its maned head turned back sharply toward the viewer in a three-quarter facing aspect, jaws open. The muscular body is rendered with fine detail in the mane and limbs, conveying dynamic movement. A bow in its case (gorytos) appears in the upper right field, a dynastic symbol frequently associated with Bosporan royal iconography. In the exergue, the Greek legend ΠΑΝΤΙ is inscribed in large, well-formed capital letters, serving as an abbreviated ethnic for Pantikapaion, the principal mint city of the Bosporan Kingdom.
