Obverse description Diademed and bearded bust of Pakor II facing left, rendered in the Parthian-influenced style typical of Persis dynastic coinage. The king wears a distinctive ribbed or banded diadem over a tiara-like headdress, with flowing hair rendered in ridged parallel locks behind the neck. A long, elaborately striated beard is prominently depicted. Two pellets appear to the left of the bust in the field. The design is contained within a beaded border.

Additional information

Pakor II ruled Persis as a vassal king under Parthian suzerainty, one of several local dynasts permitted to strike their own coinage while nominally subordinate to the Arsacid throne. The Persis kingdom maintained this semi-autonomous arrangement for generations, producing a distinctly local silver coinage that drew on Achaemenid iconographic memory long after that dynasty had collapsed. Sunrise 619 is among the scarcer attributions in the Persis series — the kingdom's output was never large, and hoards from Fars province remain the primary source of surviving specimens.
