Obverse description Radiate head of Helios depicted in three-quarter face, turned slightly to the right, rendered in the distinctive Rhodian artistic style. The solar deity's face is youthful and idealised, framed by prominent radiating spikes emanating from the crown of the head, symbolising the sun's rays. Wavy locks of hair are visible at the temples, and a small crescent is discernible to the lower right of the neck. The flan is irregular and the relief is bold, characteristic of the plintophoric series of Rhodes.
