| Obverse description | Laureate head of Zeus facing right, rendered in high relief with exceptionally detailed, flowing hair and a full, curling beard characteristic of the mature Hellenistic artistic tradition. The portrait displays strong, naturalistic modelling of facial features, with the laurel wreath set among the thick locks of hair above the brow. The neck is bare and boldly modelled, with the truncation falling at the lower border of the flan. The field is plain, with no visible legend flanking the portrait. |
