Obverse description Facing head of Helios, the sun god, rendered in three-quarter view turned slightly to the right, crowned with a radiate nimbus of stylized solar rays that fan outward through the hair. The face is modelled with fine Hellenistic craftsmanship, exhibiting high-relief cheekbones, deeply set eyes, and parted lips, characteristic of the mature Rhodian die-cutting tradition. The hair falls in loose, flowing locks around the temples and neck. The coin's irregular flan gives the design an uneven border, typical of hammered plintophoric hemidrachms of this period.
