The window of 305–294 BC places this issue squarely within the turbulent settlement of Alexander's former empire, when Seleucus I was consolidating control over the eastern satrapies after defeating Antigonus at Ipsus in 301. Bactria changed hands repeatedly during this period, and anonymous civic issues — without royal portraiture or explicit dynastic attribution — likely reflect either a transitional authority or a local mint operating with de facto independence between successive overlords.
The SNG ANS 9 attribution keeps this piece in a holding pattern that decades of scholarship have not resolved. Anonymous Bactrian silver of this weight class remains one of the harder attribution problems in Hellenistic numismatics.
