| Beschrijving keerzijde | Facing gorgoneion rendered in apotropaic style, filling the flan. The grotesque visage displays broad, staring eyes, a flattened nose, prominent cheekbones, and a wide open mouth with protruding tongue, all hallmarks of the archaic gorgon type as adapted in late Classical Mysian coinage. Coiling serpents frame the face at the periphery, visible along the lower left field. The design occupies nearly the entire reverse surface, executed with bold, deeply incised lines conveying the fearsome character of the Medusa head. |
