Aigai was a minor Achaian city on the southern coast of the Corinthian Gulf, consistently overshadowed by its more powerful neighbors. Its coinage output was modest and brief, which is precisely why SNG Copenhagen records so few die combinations for the type. Most surviving specimens come from hoard contexts rather than excavation, suggesting the coins circulated well beyond their region of issue before being gathered and buried.
