Obverse description Forepart of a lion to the right, depicted in profile with the head turned back to face the viewer, rendered in archaic Greek style. The lion's mane is suggested by incised lines, and the musculature of the foreleg is schematically rendered. The design occupies the full flan, characteristic of Chersonesean hemidrachms of this period. The strike is slightly off-centre on the irregular flan, as typical for hammered coinage of this type.
