| Reverse description | Winged thunderbolt of Zeus depicted in bold relief at the centre of the field, oriented vertically: a central elongated shaft flanked by symmetrical spread wings above and curling volutes below, the tips of the bolt terminating in decorative flame-like projections. The design is rendered with crisp, precise engraving characteristic of the finest Elean workshop production. The ethnic abbreviation F-A (for FALEION, archaic Elean script) is placed one letter to each side in the open field flanking the thunderbolt. A beaded border follows the edge of the flan. |
