Obverse description Forepart of a lion advancing to right, head dramatically turned back to left in retrograde pose, the mane rendered in bold, deeply cut strands radiating outward in the Greek artistic tradition. The musculature of the forequarters is rendered with confident modelling, the open jaws conveying ferocity. A small pellet or control mark appears below the foreleg in the lower field. The flan is broad and irregular, characteristic of Chersonesean hemidrachms of this period.

Reverse description Quadripartite incuse square divided by two intersecting diagonal lines into four sunken triangular quadrants, the standard mill-sail pattern characteristic of Chersonesean coinage. In two diagonally opposite recessed quadrants appear a lighted lamp and a pellet respectively, serving as magistrate or issue control symbols. The letter H occupies one of the raised quadrants, functioning as an additional control mark. The incuse treatment is crisp and deeply struck, typical of the city's prolific and well-organised mint output.
