正面描述 Nude youth depicted in dynamic three-quarter view, seated upon a rectangular block or altar, leaning forward with arms outstretched as if engaged in a wrestling or athletic contest. The figure is rendered in the early Classical style with naturalistic musculature. A dotted border encircles the design, and the abbreviated ethnic inscription ΟΠ appears in the lower field beneath the figure.

附加信息

Larissa's coinage in this period was controlled by the aristocratic Aleuadai family, whose political dominance over the Thessalian plain translated directly into minting authority. The city sat astride the main route between Macedonia and central Greece, and its silver circulated widely through that corridor during the Persian War aftermath, when regional coinages were proliferating across Thessaly to meet the demands of mercenary payment and inter-polis commerce.

BCD Thessaly I#1124 places this piece within a tightly sequenced die study — the BCD collection being the most rigorously catalogued Thessalian hoard corpus assembled in the modern era.
