Reverse description A crab rendered in bold high relief, depicted frontally with carapace prominently detailed, chelae raised and walking legs extended symmetrically to either side, filling the central field. Beneath the crab, a fish swims to the left, serving as a secondary emblem emblematic of the coastal city of Akragas. The entire design is set within a shallow circular incuse square, a hallmark technique of early Sicilian coinage. No legend appears on the reverse. The execution is crisp and displays the accomplished artistry associated with the Akragantine mint during the late Classical period.
