Reverse description A seven-stringed kithara (lyre), the principal attribute of Apollo, depicted frontally and rendered in fine detail with a tortoise-shell resonating body, two curved arms joined by a crossbar, and multiple strings clearly delineated. The instrument is set within a linear square border. The abbreviated ethnic legend ΜΥΤΙ, identifying the issuing city of Mytilene, is inscribed vertically to the left of the kithara within the square frame, reading downward in Greek majuscule characters.
