Obverse description Bare head of Herakles facing right, clad in the Nemean lion-skin headdress; the scalp of the lion is rendered in careful detail, with the beast's jaws framing the hero's crown and its forepaws knotted beneath his chin. The facial features are rendered in a vigorous early Classical style, with a strong brow, pronounced ear, and slightly parted lips. No legend appears in the field.
