Obverse description Eagle displayed with wings fully spread, standing to left, the talons firmly grasping a hare. The powerful predator is rendered in confident archaic style typical of late fifth-century Sicilian coinage, with finely detailed feathering across the wings and body. The composition fills the flan boldly, with the prey suspended beneath the eagle's breast.

Reverse description A crab depicted in plan view with claws raised prominently on either side, rendered in the characteristic Akragantine style that served as the city's principal civic emblem. Below the crab, a small fish swims to the left, occupying the lower field. The ethnic inscription ΑΚΡΑ runs counterclockwise around the entire design, identifying the issuing city of Akragas.
