Hemidrachm

Heraia was one of the few Arkadian communities striking its own silver coinage in the early fifth century, before the formation of the Arkadian League consolidated regional minting under a federal authority. The city sits in the upper Alpheios valley, and its independent issues are sparse — Heraia's output was never substantial, which is why auction appearances against BCD and Fitzwilliam references still draw serious attention from Arkadian specialists.

The BCD Peloponnesos collection, assembled by a single private collector over decades, remains the benchmark for this series. Fewer than a handful of die pairs are documented for the hemidrachm denomination.
