| Obverse description | Facing gorgoneion (Gorgon mask) rendered in high relief, depicted frontally with a broad, grimacing visage displaying prominent teeth and protruding tongue. The hair is rendered in wavy locks radiating outward from the face, with serpents entwined among the tresses visible at the periphery. The eyes are large and deeply modelled, giving the mask an intense, apotropaic character typical of late Classical Greek coinage from Mysia. |
