| 背面描述 | Facing gorgoneion depicted in high relief, with a broad, flat visage, bulging eyes, flaring nostrils, and a protruding tongue between parted lips. The head is framed by thick, intertwining serpentine locks radiating outward in the field. The apotropaic mask fills the entire flan, rendered with expressive, archaic intensity characteristic of Classical-period Mysian coinage from Parion. |

Parion, the Mysian Greek colony on the Propontis (modern Marmara Ereğlisi), occupied a strategically lucrative position on the shipping lanes between the Aegean and the Black Sea. This hemidrachm falls within the period of Macedonian consolidation of northwestern Asia Minor, when Alexander's campaigns were disrupting the established monetary networks of the Hellespontine cities. Parion continued striking under its own civic authority through much of this disruption — a mark of the city's commercial resilience along that corridor.
The Copenhagen 267 classification places this piece within a well-documented but not abundant series.
