Obverse description Laureate head of Zeus facing right, rendered in high relief with flowing hair and a full, curling beard characteristic of late Hellenistic die-cutting. The facial features are boldly modeled, conveying a sense of divine authority and vigor. The wreath of laurel is visible across the brow, with individual leaves distinguished by careful engraving. The portrait fills the flan generously, consistent with the artistic conventions of Thessalian federal coinage of the second century BC. The field is otherwise plain.

Reverse description Athena Itonia advancing right in a dynamic martial pose, clad in a short chiton and wearing a crested Attic helmet; she brandishes a spear in her raised right hand and holds a shield on her left arm. The figure is rendered with energetic movement, her drapery flowing behind her in a manner typical of late Hellenistic federal Thessalian issues. The ethnic legend ΘΕΣΣΑΛΩΝ is divided to either side of the figure in Greek characters. The composition reflects the importance of Athena Itonia as the principal federal deity of the Thessalian League.
